Kozy Kaps 4 Kids
Kozy Kaps 4 Kids is a mission that has its roots in the heart of its founder, Marlene Betesh Maxion. After knitting hats for a friend with cancer, Marlene was inspired to bring a ray of sunshine to brighten the cloudy days of children battling the horrific disease of cancer. She founded Kozy Kaps 4 Kids and began hand delivering "chemo caps" to as many children in hospital wards as possible.
Women across the nation have joined Marlene on her "Mission in her Golden Years" by donating their precious time, yarns and talents to design and create colorful, fun, outstanding hand crafted "chemo caps". With their dedicated efforts, generosity and their contributions of their amazing creations, Marlene has personally delivered and gifted in excess of 18,000 Handmade - Unique Kozy Kaps since February 2006. Her Mission is her vision: Fruition! She travels to meet children personally in facilities near and far, from New York to Tenessee. Kozy Kaps 4 Kids has the honor of being "Grandfathered" into: The Ronald McDonald House, St. Jude Children's Hospital, and Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, as well as The Target House. We are greeted with "Open Arms" to visit children in the wards at the Janet Weiss Clinic in Danville, Pennsylvania and Philadelphia's Annual Christmas Festival for the Variety Club.
Three years ago Sabrina learned about Kozy Kaps from a friend, she emailed Marlene right away. It was a perfect match for them both. Sabrina has been sending hats with the helps of friends and coworkers for years now. Recently it was decided that she would become a satellite location in the Midwest. She is currently working on visiting hospitals in Illinois, Ohio and Michigan with the hopes of adding more as time allows.
Each Kozy Kap is like each child; unique and special in its own way. The faces of these incredibly brave children who are fighting cancer or other serious illnesses just beam with joy when choosing their own Kozy Kap. Although our focus is on the children, adult sizes are also created and available for gifting.
We hope that you will join us in our quest to reach children all over the United States. Please contact Marlene or Sabrina to arrange for your donations of hats or yarn. Financial donations are accepted via Pay pal on the website.
